These documents were prepared for the Department of Energy by a consortium of building science agencies and organizations, based upon best practices developed after years of field work. The documents in the HVAC section cover many of the topics related to building a high performance system, saving energy while improving construction practices. The insulation section discusses insulation and moisture control in foundations, walls and ceilings, in addition to resisting heat loss or gain through convective heat transfer. The general energy efficiency section covers lighting, windows, energy efficient appliances, housewrap and a handy checklist for improving the energy efficiency of a home.
